Changing Terrains
The westward leg of our trip comes to an end
The landscape changed almost as soon as we crossed from North Dakota into Montana on Thursday afternoon. We saw these striped and eroded hills near Bainville, Montana.
We passed along the Milk River near Hinsdale, Montana.
By the time we woke up on Friday morning, the train was cruising through Washington and the scenery had changed again. We got great views of the Cascade Mountains and were treated to acres and acres of colorful trees. The following images all came from Leavenworth, Washington, along the Wenatchee River.
We arrived in Seattle in the late morning on Friday. Kevin and Uncle Bob split up for a few hours, and both had fantastic times hanging out with fun friends. As the day wound down, it was nice to sleep in our extra-comfy hotel beds, which did not rattle, shake or blow a loud horn every few minutes.

You sure timed it well... best time of year for the colors! We lived in South Dakota for 10 years and once I got used to the quiet, it just got better & better. Your pics remind me of the soul food that is the prairie. :)
What a beautiful trip! Such amazing scenery - and some fun tales to go along with it! So glad you are continuing your adventures!
